CARE NOTES
Keeping considerations
Keep on 10–15 cm of damp, mature substrate rich in pesticide-free leaf litter and white-rotted hardwood, with bark and leaves across the surface. Maintain 22–26°C and roughly 75–80% humidity with good ventilation; keep the lower substrate moist but never waterlogged. Decaying leaves and hardwood form the staple diet. Calcium may be supplied with crushed cuttlebone or an appropriate reptile-calcium source, with only small occasional portions of fish flakes for protein. Remove uneaten supplements before they mould. Avoid handling: this brightly coloured flat-backed millipede can produce cyanogenic defensive secretions when threatened. Wash hands after enclosure maintenance and keep secretions away from the face, children and pets.
