CARE NOTES
Keeping considerations
A terrestrial to fossorial Central American tarantula that commonly excavates beneath a hide or around enclosure structure. Provide a low enclosure with deep, compactable substrate, a secure hide and a water dish. Maintain a modest moisture gradient rather than keeping the entire substrate wet, with ventilation sufficient to prevent stagnant conditions. It is often recommended as a first tarantula because care is forgiving, but individuals can kick urticating hairs or react defensively and should not be handled. Feeding and moisture should be adjusted for life stage, abdomen condition and observed use of the burrow.
