CARE NOTES
Keeping considerations
Provide a fossorial setup with at least 15–20 cm of deep, moisture-retaining substrate (such as a damp coco-fiber and peat moss mix) to support its heavy tunneling behaviour. Ensure moderate ventilation via cross-holes to prevent stagnant air and mould, while keeping the lower substrate layers consistently humid. This species exhibits an exceptionally aggressive feeding response, often bursting from its burrow to violently tackle prey at lightning speed, so use long feeding tongs and exercise extreme caution. Offer appropriate-sized insects like roaches, crickets, or locusts once a week for juveniles and every 1–2 weeks for adults, always removing uneaten prey within 24 hours to protect the tarantula during its hidden molting cycles.
